Elaine C. Wigen, age 93, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday afternoon, February 9, 2022 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Elaine was born on September 6, 1928 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Veronica (Gasparick) Peronto. Elaine graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1946. She married Howard Wigen at First Lutheran Church in Manitowoc on June 19, 1948. They were married for 47 years before Howard's death in 1995. Elaine worked as a secretary at Kaufman Manufacturing Company, Kugler, Reichert and Whitney Accountants, and First Lutheran Church. In addition to being a secretary, she sang in the Chancel Choir, taught confirmation and Bethel Bible classes, was a member of the church council as well as a delegate to many conferences and "cluster meetings". Elaine also enjoyed being involved in book groups and bible study groups. Elaine loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and had many fond memories of family parties and vacations. She also enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to go on many trips with her husband and a group of close friends. Elaine also enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and watching Jeopardy and various crime shows such as Perry Mason, Murder She Wrote, and the Closer – especially with a glass of wine!

Survivors include Elaine's three children, Ron Wigen, Jeff Wigen, and Nancy Mueller, all of Manitowoc; six grandchildren, Aaron, Gina, Sheila, Angie, Kevin, and Ryan; nine great grandchildren, Taylor, Clay, Kaitlyn, Aaron, Leah, Cameron, McKenna, Logan and Morgan; three great great grandchildren, Alice, Xavier, and Luke; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Veronica (Gasparick) Peronto; stepfather, George Brixius; husband, Howard; sister, Delores Staudt; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Wigen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Roald Harswick. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow with burial of Elaine's cremated remains at Knollwood Memorial Gardens at a later date. A luncheon will be held following the funeral service at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
