Obituary - the Magee Courier, Magee, Simpson County, MS 04 Feb 1960
Accident Is Fatal to Willie Warren; Rites Saturday Willie Ray Warren, 27 years of age and the father of six children, died Friday at University Hospital from injuries sustained while snaking logs with a tractor. Severe injuries to the head were sustained when a tree was felled the wrong way, striking Warren back of the head and pining his head to the throttle handle of the tractor. He died seventeen days following the accident. He was a former resident of near Magee but was residing near Brandon at the time of his death. He was a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 p. m. Saturday from the Dry Creek Baptist Church with Rev.
Bill Hegwood officating, assisted by Rev. B. McAlpin. Interment followed in Goodhope Cemetery under the direction of the Mims Mitchell Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Velma Jean Warren, Brandon; four sons, Billy George, Rodger Dale, Tom Henry and George Howell Warren; two daughters, Betty Jean and Rita Joyce, all of Brandon; father, Sam Warren, Mendenhall; four brothers, A. W. Warren, Morton; Sam Warren, Jr.; Jackie Warren, George Rufus Warren, all of Mendenhall; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Cook, Magee; Mrs. Lavonne Stewart and Miss Annie Ruth Warren, both of Mendenhall; paternal grandfather, George Warren, Mendenhall; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lisa Roberts, Mendenhall.
