William Ladd, last seen in the latter part of December, in the company of Mack (or Mark) Wilson, was found on or about February 7th, 1896, floating in the Ohio canal. It was believed he had been drinking and wandered or fell into the water, was trapped under the ice and drowned. His friend Mack Wilson (or Williams) depending on which paper you read, was briefly held and charged with his murder, but there was no evidence to support this, as he was intoxicated as well. He was released, the judge calling the charges frivolous and fully exonerating him.

Parents are George W Ladd and Martha Jane (Jones) Kendrick. I still think there may be more siblings and I have not yet found a wife or children.
