Luetta Cecilia Evert was born July 27, 1927 to Henry and Theresa (Ulrich) Hunke on the family farm west of West Point. She attended school at St. Boniface Catholic School at Monterey.

On September 28, 1948, Luetta married Eugene Evert at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The couple farmed before moving to Fremont in 1953. In 1954, they moved to West Point where Luetta continued to raise their family. In the early 1970's, she began working for Penny's in West Point until the store's closing.

Luetta was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Guild. Luetta and Gene spent their social time at dances or playing sheephead and pitch. They kept a meticulous lawn and garden along with Luetta's geraniums that returned year after year. She loved to watch sports on television and occupied her time with word searches. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren were Luetta's pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Survivors include daughters, Janet (Chuck) Ross of Wisner, Lois (Michael) Growney of Las Vegas, NV, and Carol (Dale) Lofgren of West Point; sons, Allen (Aggie) of Las Vegas, NV, Glen (Peggy) of Elkhorn, and Roger (Joyce) of Marshall, MN; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sisters, Camilla Schlautman of West Point and Marie Kampschneider of Dodge; and sister-in-law, Joann Evert of West Point.

Luetta is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; great-granddaughter, Josie Bluhm; sisters, Elaine Aschoff and Bernice Johnson; and brothers, Leander and Alvin Hunke.
