Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Connecticut. After graduation from Yale College in 1803 he practiced law in Salisbury. He was a six session representative to the CT General Assembly, a CT senator for three years and judge of probate eleven years. He was a member of the constitutional convention in 1818. In 1832 he was appointed a judge of the CT superior court and supreme court of errors, and in 1847 he was elected chief justice.
