Dec. 5, 1933 - Sept. 2, 2012 MISHAWAKA - Nancy A. (Straup) Sterchi, 78, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, in Hospice House. Nancy was born December 5, 1933, to Harold and Helen (Bennett) Pool. She had been employed with Travelmore, City Pattern, and the Bendix Corporation in various clerical positions. On May 13, 1976, Nancy married Vernon (Bud) Sterchi, who preceded her in death on February 22, 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Straup of Woodlands, Texas; a son, Ken (Vicki) Straup of Palatine, Illinois; stepdaughters, Diane S. Roush, Linda K. Grimes, Roxann J. Silvius; a stepson, John Sterchi of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Holly & Sarah Straup; seven step-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon (Bruce) Willoughby of Granger, Indiana; and a niece, Brenda (Bill) Condon of Lakeville, Indiana. Nancy was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Bend. Her hobbies included square dancing, traveling, gardening, billiards, knitting and sewing. She used her talents to make blankets and hats for the Cancer Society. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of South Bend, 3010 South Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Indiana 46614; to the American Cancer Society; or to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
