Bob was the fifth of 14 children. He grew up in Brighton and was a member of the Brighton High School wrestling team. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served in Germany. Bob worked for many years at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center as a warehouseman and retired in 1994. He kept busy in the years following retirement playing golf, bowling and playing/coaching softball as well as working part time. He also loved the Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies and enjoyed all of these activities with his children and grandchildren. Bob kept in touch with his many friends and family on a daily basis and he loved to joke and tell stories about his life and family. Also precedied by brothers Mel, Dan, Sam, Steve Abeyta and sister Elaine Gonzales. Survivors beside his wife included their four children, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren and his eight brothers and sisters. Services held on Wednesday March 2nd at Tabor Funeral Home in Brighton, followed by reception at the Columbian House at 1096 E Bridge Street in Brighton.
