The Lord saw fit to open his arms to welcome Emilio D. Vigil home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the age of 87.

Emilio was born in Colmor, New Mexico to Santiago and Melior Vigil. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 - 1957 as an aviation meteorologist before attending St. Louis University where he met his wife of 60 years Gail Schexnayder Vigil. Upon graduation, he started working as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service where he was stationed briefly in St. Louis, then Puerto Rico before settling in Memphis, TN. He retired after 40 years of public service.

In addition to his professional life, Emilio was a passionate volunteer in the Catholic Diocese of Memphis. He served for many years in the Hispanic Community and as an active member at his home church, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He also proudly served as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Emilio placed family above all else and modeled engagement, integrity, honesty, kindness and generosity for his sons, brothers and sisters, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Emilio was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leonard (Tony) Vigil

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home and on Thursday, February 24 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with a rosary at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 24 at 1:00p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
