GAINER, Alice "Mona", 78, of Winter Haven, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Florida Hospital Carroll- wood in Tampa due to complications of pneumonia. She was born November 6, 1933 in Black, Alabama, she moved to Winter Haven 2 years ago from the Dana Shores area of Tampa. She was retired from Verizon as a toll investigation supervisor; a member of Hyde Park Presbyterian Church; a member of the Daughters of the Nile, American Business Women's Assn., and a life member of the Verizon Telephone Pioneers. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gaston; 2 brothers, John T. Powell of Winter Haven, FL and Bobby E. Powell of Eagle Lake, FL; 5 sisters, Julia Worley of Eloise, FL, Janie Hampton of Winter Haven, FL, Betty Hough of Lakeland, FL, Paige Brooker of Lake Wales, FL , and Shirley Grimes of Eagle Lake, FL. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am, Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Boulevard, NW, Winter Haven. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at 2:00pm at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa. Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home and Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
