July 8, 1935 - February 19, 2022
Gueydan/Kaplan, Louisiana
Mrs. Nita Cormier, 86, entered into eternal rest on February 18, 2022, in a local facility. Nita was born in Welsh, LA, and was the daughter of Leon Schexnider, Sr. and Mazie (Fontenot) Schexnider.
She was a devout catholic throughout her life and most recently was a faithful parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kaplan, LA. Nita thoroughly enjoyed her life and her family and relaxing with a cold beer. She was loving, a natural Mother and welcomed anyone who came to her with open arms and a hot plate of food. She loved being outdoors working in the yard, caring for her flower beds, or cooking on the grill; and above all adored her children and grandchildren and making memories with them.
Nita is survived by three sons, David Cormier (Charlene) of Carencro, LA, John Cormier, Sr. (Mary) of Lyons Point, LA, and Mark Cormier (Vicky) of Cypress Point, LA; her daughters Carol Primeaux (the late Larry), Janet LeJeune (Allen) of Kaplan, LA and Donna LeBlanc (Tony) of Kaplan, LA; 20 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren, plus 3 on the way; and her sister Wilda Marceaux and one brother Leon Schexnider, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Hugh Paul Cormier; two sons Patrick Joseph Corimer and Aaron James Cormier; her mother Mazie (Fontenot) Cormier and Father Leon Schexnider, Sr.; her sister Rose Fontenot, and 3 infant siblings; her father in law Alexon Cormier and mother in law Electa Cormier; son-in-law Donald "Bubba" Robinson; and one great grandson Dylan Ness.
The family would like to send a very special thank to Mrs. Nita's hospice nurse Whitney Credeur with Hospice of Acadina. She was loving and compassionate and took excellent care of our mom in her time of need.
