Amanda (possibly Armanda) Martilla Howell Urmson was born on 9 March 1862, in Yorktown, Delaware County, Indiana, the 3rd of 12 children born to William Nelson Howell (1835-1917) and Ann Eliza (Wagner) Howell (1843-1918).

She married John James Urmson in York, Nebraska, on 18 February 1885. They had 5 children:

Agnes Gertrude Urmson Smith (1880-1920),
Mildred Howell Urmson Brooks (1885-1979),
Roy Vincent Urmson (1887-1933),
Myrtle Constance Urmson Gannon (1890-1987),
Gail Urmson (1899-prior to 1910).

Amanda Martilla's death and burial records have not been found. William Nelson Howell's obituary states that his daughter, "Martill Urmson died in 1904 at the age of 43 years". John, Amanda, and their 4 younger children are found on the 1900 US Census to be living in Colton, San Bernardino County, California. (Their oldest child, Agnes Gertrude Urmson Smith, married in 1899, and did not move to California with the family.) It's a fair assumption that Amanda is buried in San Bernardino County, California, but no records have been found.
