Died as a result of injuries resulting from a battle at Fort Donelson (in or near Dover Tennessee).

From Jay Wright: Battle of Fort Donelson was fought from 11 Feb 1862 to 16 Feb 1862. Joseph was wounded on 15 Feb 1862. He died a week later (on 22 Feb 1862) on a hospital boat. Capt Hanna was likely born in Indiana.
