Gertrude "Gertie" J. Arbogast, 84, died Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Green Hills Community in West Liberty, Ohio.

Gertie was born January 5, 1938, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Schindler) Sauber and was raised in Defiance, Ohio. She married Paul Mohr in 1955. A dedicated wife and mother of three, Gertie created a nurturing home with every move and new adventure that Air Force life presented for the family. Her first husband's retirement brought them back to the Bellefontaine she loved. Although life has a way of taking unfortunate turns, it also sends us unexpected answers to prayers—such as the one who arrived walking his dog, Bandit, in front of Gertie's house in 1979. Earl "Pee Wee" Arbogast and Gertie were married in 1980 and together enjoyed the love of friends and family for almost 42 years. Gertie was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and worked at Green Hills for 26 years. She loved her Green Hills family and was very proud of her service there.

She is survived by her husband, Earl "Pee Wee" Arbogast of Bellefontaine; children and stepchildren, David (Bernadette) Mohr of Granada Hills, California; Jane (Stephen) Veniard of St. Augustine, Florida; Pamela Campbell of Urbana, Ohio; Lynne (David) Wycinski of Bellefontaine and Jeff (Rochelle) West of Parma, Ohio; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Mohr, Haley Mohr, Evan Mohr, Michael (Kristen) Veniard, Jonathan (Amber) Veniard, Meghan (Dale) Nickerson, Jacob (Taylor) Campbell, Jennifer (David) Briggs, Chad (Samantha) Brown, Kristy (Drew) Gibbs, Robbie Grounds, Elizabeth (Eric) Beistline, Brandon Arbogast and Brittany (Steve) Arbogast, 16 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren, siblings Bernice (Ken) Florence, Robert (Helen) Sauber, Art (Carol) Sauber, Fred (Denise) Sauber, Tom (Joyce) Sauber and Don (Karen) Sauber.

Friends may call Monday, February 21, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
