Charles Everett Alexander (best known by "Pappy" or "Jackrabbit"), 90, of McComb, MS, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones.

Charles "Pappy" was born on December 14, 1931 to the late Floyd and Gussie Alexander.

Charles went into the army at the age of 20 and served in the Korean War. After retiring from the army, he worked at Illinois Central Railroad in McComb before entering into the oil field where he worked in many different countries until he retired to come home and work for Ed Griffin until the age of 87. Pappy was a very loving father and grandfather, enjoyed working on the farm, watching westerns, and spending time with those he loved. He will be missed by his family, friends, and community.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean Alexander; son, Jimmy Rize; granddaughter, Tina Pounds; one sister, Mary Harris.

He is survived by three daughters, Kim Pounds (son in law Jay Pounds), Nancy Brister, Sandy Kay Childs (son in law Allan Childs); grandchildren, Mike Pounds, Misty Black, Adam Sandifer, Eric Sandifer, Jonathan Pounds, Marshall Brister, Chelsea Strakna; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, David Alexander and Sara; one sister, Elaine Wedgeworth, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 1PM until 4PM and continue on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 10AM until time of service at 12PM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS. with Bro. Matt Strakna officiating. A burial will be at Pike Memorial Garden Cemetery in McComb, MS.

Pallbearers will be Mike Pounds, Adam Sandifer, Eric Sandifer, Jonathan Pounds, Mason Pounds and Alex Perry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chance Perry, Easton Sandifer, Jayce Pounds and Stacy McCaskill.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Deaconess Hospice as well as Makayla and Alexandra.
