She was a graduate of Central Augusta High School in 1961, where she was voted "Most Likely To Succeed" by her classmates. She loved sports and played on her high school basketball team.
She retired from Conagra with over 30 years of service and was a lifetime member of St. James Baptist Church.
She was a very dedicated mom, grandmother, sister and aunt to her all of her family members. She loved the family activities of cookouts, family gatherings during the holidays and enjoyed playing both family and group games together. Her deep thoughtfulness and appreciation of the small things in life is a gratifying trait that has touched all her family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Marshall Arkward; daughter, Dayna Michelle Arkward; and brother, Charles Edward Johnson.
She is survived by three daughters, Lisa A. Barmore, Marsha Hunt (Robert), and Stephanie Arkward; one sister, Gale Price; three brothers, Ned Johnson, Jr. (Becky), Charles Richardson (Shirleen), and Ronald Richardson (Rosetta); sister-in-law, Hilda Johnson; two grandchildren, John Alexander Barmore, III and Mayghen Simone Barmore; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 12 Noon with public viewing one hour prior to the service at the chapel of McCutcheon and Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Masks are required.
