Vernon Bailey, 79, of Wytheville died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at West End Cemetery in Wytheville with the Rev. R.D. Bray officiating. He was born May 2, 1926, in Beckley, W.Va., the only child of the late Augustas B. and Nancy Belcher Bailey. He is survived by Judy Kesner-Bailey of Wytheville; the mother of his four children, Marlene Bailey of Midlothian; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Dan McNeil; three sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathy Bailey, and Guy Bailey, all of Midlothian, and Darrell Bailey of Frederick, Md.; and four grandchildren, Amy Bailey of Glendale, Ariz., Dana Bailey of Fairfax, Matthew McNeil of the U.S. Navy, and Eric McNeil of Midlothian. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
