YORK Dorothy S. Ness, 77, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late James G. Ness, III. A visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by an 10 a.m. memorial service at John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., York, with the Rev. Thomas R. Hoke officiating. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. Mrs. Ness was born January 17, 1930, in Nebraska, a daughter of the late Walter E. and Margaret E. (Smith) Lally. She had been a restaurateur in the York area and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. Mrs. Ness is survived by sons, J. Scott Ness and his wife, Beth Ann, Mark A. Ness and his wife, Mary, James G. Ness, IV, Jack B. Ness, Daniel E. Ness and his wife, Debora, and M. Todd Ness and his wife, Jody; and loving daughter, Sgt. Jackie M. Ness, serving in the U.S. Army; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Strausbaugh of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Burl Lally of Witmauna, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Shaw Ness.
