Alexis Jolene Bowden, age 88 went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 25, 2022, which is also her mother's birthday. Alexis was born January 2, 1934 to the late Alex and Ethel Johnson. She is survived by her children, Kimberly White (Ronnie), William Martin (Kassie) and Robert Martin (Donna); sister, Jackie Repass; son in law, Joseph Hochstrasser; grandchildren, Alexis, Ashley, Alex, Sam, Angie, George, Jacob, Dani, Tonya and Kirstie; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Taylor, Sawyer, Kory, Warren, Brooks and Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Gail Martin (father of her children); second husband, Early Lanes Bowden, Jr. (father to her children); brothers, Bill, Dan and Bob; and daughter, Cynthia "Cyndee" Hochstrasser.
Alexis served as a labor and delivery nurse for over 30 years and was dedicated to the patients in her care. She could often be found shopping and making reservations to eat at various restaurants. To many, Alexis was known as the "Queen of Goochland" or "Hollywood" and took pride in the way she carried herself. She found the beauty in everything and everyone and passed that down to her family. She adored stopping to look at the trees and would always comment on how beautiful they were. She was a long time member of Dover Baptist Church. Alexis never met a stranger and always had a kind and gentle spirit with everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Dover Baptist Church on Saturday, March 5, 2022, 635 Manakin Road, Manakin Sabot, VA 23103. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
