Reverend Richard "Rick" McGee

Reverend Richard "Rick" McGee, 61, of Lubbock, passed away Jan. 2, 2008. He was born on April 10, 1946 in Kermit, to Walter Carl McGee and Willa Mae McCargo. He graduated from Kermit High School. He then went to the University of Texas at El Paso, where he was awarded a Bachelor's of Arts degree. Rick went on to receive his Masters of Divinity from the Southwester Baptist Theological Seminary. Rick married Jenita Gwen Hemphill in Kermit, on March 3, 1968.

Rick served his country during the Vietnam Era as a member of the Air Force. He was a minister and chaplain at Covenant Medical Center until his retirement. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife; one son, Corey McGee and wife, Ashley, of Nikiski, Ala.; one daughter, Krista Fauvel and husband, Darrell, of Abilene; one brother, Walter McGee, of Kaufman; one sister, Ann Hinds, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and one grandson, Benjamin McGee.

Formal visitation will be from 6 - 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at White Funeral Home in Lubbock. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2007 at Oakwood Baptist Church in Lubbock, with Reverend Bob Highley officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
