Jerry Karaff 1935-2003

Mr. Jerry Karaff, 68, of Wichita, Kan., and formerly of the LaPorte area, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Westley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Nov. 1, 1935, in Evansville to Ralph and Florence (Anderson) Karaff, and had lived in Wichita since 1991. Mr. Karaff retired as a machinist for Albertson and Hein Machine and had worked at L & S Machine. On Nov. 20, 1982, in Norwalk, Calif., he married Alma E. Minner, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Pamela Hunter of Los Angeles, Tammy Rodkey of Colorado and Cheryl Marsh of Madera, Calif.; three sons, Jack Sherard of Wichita and Jerry Jr. and Lee Sherard, both of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pamela White and Patricia Richards, both of Fort Branch, Ind.; and three brothers, Randy, Ronald and Lyndell, all of Fort Branch.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Luna Sullivan; and three brothers, William, Richard and Jim.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Friends may call Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita. Jerry was cremated and his ashes buried in Kennett, Missouri at Dunklin Memorial Gardens.
