After graduating from Sam Houston High School in 1961 Milford served in the USAF, which further fueled his love of aircraft and flying.
Known as "Tank" by coworkers, he worked for Eastern Airlines and United Airlines for a combined total of almost 30 years. In between the stints with the airlines he became a certified locksmith.
His passions outside his family were traveling and ice hockey. His excitement for any upcoming trip was palpable. Whether it was going to see family, or visiting somewhere new, he loved being on the go. He also served as an off-ice official for the Houston Aeros for 19 seasons.
