Catherine A. Bruce, age 89, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Manitowoc Health Care Center.

Catherine was born on June 7, 1932 in Two Rivers. She was the daughter of the late Urban and Julia Goeler LaFond. Catherine attended Washington High School in Two Rivers and graduated with the class of 1951. She continued her education at Lakeshore Technical College where she became certified as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She became employed with St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc as an License Practical Nurse for many years until she retired. On June 14, 1952 she married LeRoy Bruce at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1977. Catherine was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and formerly a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a lecturer and an active member of the Rosary and Alter Society. She also had been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader in past years. Catherine loved making ceramics, quilting, sewing and teaching people how to sew. She enjoyed traveling and cooking, having family gatherings at the holidays, playing cards with her card club, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Michael (Melissa) Bruce, Fort Meyers, FL, Mark Bruce, Two Rivers, Terry (Cissy) Bruce, Whitelaw, Julia (Howard) Jansen, Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one brother, Jerry (Molly) LaFond, Two Rivers; special cousin, Claudia of Two Rivers; son-in-law, Brian Matuszak, Seymour; two sisters-in-law, Karen Blashka and Shelly (John) Keil both of Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Urban and Julia LaFond, husband, LeRoy Bruce, sister, Annie Matuszak, and two brothers, William and Howard LaFond.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Ben Johnson. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc followed by a luncheon at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
