He held a state record for thresher shark (585 lbs.) and placed in several other tournaments. He also fished in Costa Rica, Panama, Florida, and salmon fished in Alaska with his brother Bob. In addition to his hobbies, he enjoyed crabbing from his pier on the West River and fitness, especially long distance running. He participated in many long-distance races. After marrying his wife, "Bunny" a farm girl, and helping on her family farm in CT, he always planted a large garden and a crop of strawberries which he sold to local stores.

Fred lived a long, fulfilling, vibrant life and left no stones unturned. He worked hard, played hard, and was full of energy. Fred was a kind, generous husband, father, and friend to many. His family will miss him dearly.
