Samuel Harlan Ford, age 68, of Knox, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Sam was born August 30, 1953 in Wellston, Ohio to Samuel and Sadie Ford. Son, husband, dad, grandpa, fisherman, model train and model airplane enthusiast. Sam enjoyed all things fishing and flying his model planes, where he met many friends. During his many years at Hobart High School, he had the distinction of being Lake County's first teacher who served as an Athletic Trainer. He was also inducted into the Hobart High School Sports Hall of Fame. Sam is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dalarie Ford of Knox, his mother, Sadie Arnold Ford of Wellston, Ohio, a brother, Scott Ford of Wellston, Ohio, a son, Matthew H. Ford (Jolene Anderson) of Plymouth, Indiana, a daughter, Abbey M. Ambrose (Brian) of Plymouth, Indiana, and grandchildren, Noah and Sammi Ambrose. He was preceded in death by a son, Sgt. Joseph A. Ford and his father, Sam Ford. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 4-8pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 11am (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Knox.
