Joseph J. Romdenne, Sr., age 81, of 2221 Washington St. Two Rivers, died Friday morning, May 3, 2013 at Artisan Senior Living Center, Manitowoc.

Joseph was born April 1, 1932 in Two Rivers, to the late Matthias and Ida (Moreau) Romdenne. He attended Two Rivers Public Schools before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952. Joe served during the Korean Conflict, and traveled to Germany and France. He was honorably discharged from service in 1961.

Joe married Ardis VanLaarhoven on November 6, 1954 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He worked at a variety of places throughout his life, with most of them centering around the construction/carpentry industry. He retired in 1993. Joe enjoyed playing softball and dartball in his younger days; and later in life he spent countless hours working on woodworking projects for his family. He had a great love for the outdoors as well and spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, camping, and trapshooting.

Survivors include his wife, Ardis; five children: Connie Welnetz (Kevin Karl), Jolynn Romdenne (Danny Siddons), Susan Romdenne (Russ Hanes), David (Crys) Romdenne, all of Two Rivers, and Joseph (Teresa) Romdenne, Jr. of Mukwonago; his grandchildren include: Lora (Jason) Kinjerski, Sara Romdenne, Matthew Romdenne, Kelli (Jay) Remiker, Ryan (Missy) Welnetz, Briana Timreck, Tabatha Romdenne, Nicole Snyder, Brooke (Chris) Miller, Emily Romdenne; and ten great grandchildren. He is further survived by one sister, Mary Jane Taylor of Two Rivers; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Marilyn (Con) Stephens, Avon, Indiana, Dale (Jackie) VanLaarhoven, and Judy (Arky) Englebert, all of Two Rivers; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Elmer Allie; father-in-law & mother-in-law, George and Phyllis VanLaarhoven; two brothers & a sister-in-law, Moses Romdenne, Edward (Mildred) Romdenne; and two sisters & three brothers-in-law, Marcella (Eugene) McCoy, Lucille (Eric) Enneper, and Walter Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3218 Tannery Rd. Two Rivers. Rev. Tom Reynebeau will officiate at the memorial mass, with military graveside rites to immediately follow at the church by members of the VFW Post # 1248 and American Legion Post # 165 of Two Rivers. Cremation has taken place, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Thursday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation.
