MORRIS, Alabama - A second woman has died following a two-vehicle crash in Morris last week.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Elberta Comer, 94, of Morris. The wreck happened at Old Highway 31 and Highway 31 in Morris just after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Comer was the driver of a 2006 Ford Freestyle SUV traveling east on Old Highway 31. Authorities said she didn't yield at a stop sign and collided with a Nissan Frontier pickup truck.

Edna England Rickels, 77, was the passenger in Comer's SUV. She was taken to UAB Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

Comer was pronounced dead at 8:51 p.m. on Friday. The driver of the other vehicle was also hospitalized.

Edna Faye England Rickels was born in Cullman County, on September 13, 1937 to Arnold Cann England and Elberta "Bert" Oden Comer. She moved to Jefferson County after the death of her father when her mother married Buddy Comer. She died at a Birmingham Hospital on Oct. 2, 2014. (Edna) Faye married Lester Frank Rickels on March 21, 1959. She is survived by their three children, Lynne Thigpen and husband Chuck of Abilene, Texas; Shannon Roysden and husband Doug of Abilene, Texas; and one son Bret Rickels, who is serving in the US Army and stationed at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska; as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six siblings; Betty England; Mary Jane Hayes; Joyce Drain and husband Joe; Debbie Gilley and husband Ronnie; Vicki Hinkle; Kevin Comer and wife Pam; all of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father, her step-father, and two siblings; Charles "Sonny" England, and Arnold Sheridan England. Her mother, Elberta Comer, died on October 3, within hours of her own death. (Edna) Faye was a talented seamstress. She loved sewing and all creative arts. She loved wildflowers and birds, especially red-birds. She created sanctuaries for wild birds around her house. She loved to read and spend hours with her cats. She invested her life in her children, traveling to Texas for long visits, and in her family and community, serving as a parent sponsor and sewing for the Mortimer-Jordan High School band for decades, as well as sewing for too many individuals to name. She literally sewed herself into the fabric of countless lives in her community. She is missed.
