Rock Musician, Educator. He was a self-taught guitarist which joined a local group, "The Buckaroos" at the age of twelve. Later he began playing and singing on local radio shows. In 1964 while in college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, he founded the pop rock band, The Five Americans, being lead guitarist, co-song writer, and vocalist. The Five Americans recorded four albums and 22 singles during the 6 years together. Their top two hits were: "I See The Light" (number 26 in 1966) and "Western Union" (number five in 1967). The band made appearances on popular hit television shows; "American Bandstand," "The Steve Allen Show," and the music-based variety show, "Where The Action Is." In 1971 the band decided to go separate ways and disband. He next signed for a full-length album with Universal City Records, "Uni." The new band, "Michael Rabon and Choctaw," toured throughout the Southwestern United States in the mid 1970s. Later, deciding to choose another career as husband and educator, he used his master's degree and worked in school administration and teaching of art, choir, computer science, and music in his hometown of Hugo, Oklahoma. Following retirement, he began his writing career and authored five books.
