Kathryn Suzanne "Katie" Perkins, 60, Logansport, passed away at 12:28 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at her residence. Born May 9, 1950, in Tampa, Fla., she was the daughter of Frederick and Anita Grogg Sherrod. Katie was the senior pharmacy technician at the Logansport Walgreen's Pharmacy. For 25 years prior to that she had been an on-air disc jockey at various radio stations, in Florida, Tennessee and WSAL radio. Until recently she had co-hosted the "Roots of Hoosier Country" with Captain Crunch on Hoosier Country 103. Katie always enjoyed bargain shopping and clipping coupons. She was a 1968 graduate of Sarasota High School in Florida. Surviving are daughter, Anjelica (husband, Andrew) Snyder; son, Ivan (wife, Robyn) Sundal; sister, Teri Cooper; and grandchildren, Sydney Heath, Aiden Sundal and Olivia Snyder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Perkins Jr.; and son, Jonathon Perkins. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Wheatland Avenue UM Church with the Rev. Joann Kaiser officiating.
