Brian was born July 6th, 1944 to James and Rosalie Barrett in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was in the Boy Scouts growing up and reached the rank of Eagle Scout. He played the role of the Prince in… wait for it… The Nutcracker. His childhood consisted of living in New Mexico then Arizona, before settling in Washington State. He graduated from Quincy High School in '62 and went into the electrical engineering degree program at WSU. Go Cougs! He entered ROTC program while he was there as well as attended the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship where he was introduced to the love of his life—Mary. They were married July 8th of '67. They spend two years in Fort Huachuca where he served as a First Lieutenant at the Electronic Proving Ground for the United States Army. After leaving active duty he spent two years in California working at Hewlett Packard before returning to Arizona. He was employed by Arizona Public Services for 20 years. In 1990 his wife and daughters moved to Vancouver, WA where he ran the power plant at Vanalco for 10 years before moving on to work at Portland General Electric until retiring in 2011.

He was an active member of Felida Baptist and Brush Prairie Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Brian had many hobbies during his lifetime such as bird watching, photography, kite flying, leather working, origami, amateur radio, macrame, golf, woodcarving, and Bible studies.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Barrett; two brothers, Bob and Tony Barrett; four daughters, Rachel Lewis, Caryn (Tom) Allen, April Barrett, and Amy (Matt) Frye; three grandsons, Hunter (Breanna) Lewis, Landon Lewis, and Decker Lewis; four granddaughters, Amber Allen, Kiersten Trietsch, Aryn (Trevor) Vance, and Andrea Allen; one great granddaughter, Maya Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to the building fund at Brush Prairie Baptist Church to continue the ministries Brian loved into the coming generations.
