Mr. and Mrs. George D. McTaggart of Clinton, Ont., announce the engagement of their eldest daughter, Jean Douglas, to Mr. Alastair John Crerar, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Crerar of Hamilton, the marriage to take place May 15th.

Ottawa, May 24 (CP) - Alastair John Crerar, 54, brother of General H.D.G. Crerar, died suddenly today of a heart attack while playing golf at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club. Mr. Crerar, born in Hamilton, was chief solicitor of the public works department. He had been with the deparment for 20 years. A graduate of Osgoode Hall, Toronto, Mr. Crerar also attended Royal Military College, Kingston, and during the First World War served overseas with the Royal Canadian Dragoons. He was awarded the Military Cross. He leaves his wife, brother and two sons, Malcolm of Hamilton, and Colin of Montreal, as well as his sister, Mrs. Herbert Gallagher (Violet) of Woodside, California.
