Rodney J. Banks 49, Sheridan, died June 19, 2005. He was born July 13, 1955 in Indianapolis to the late Samuel Jackson Banks and Maude Stewart Banks-Lundsford, surviving in Hanover, IN. Rodney served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the owner of the Red Onion in Sheridan, IN. He worked for the USAC and the IRL for 15 years, as part of the Tech Team. He graduated in 1972 from Northwest High School, Indianapolis, where he was a member of the Explorer Group. His memberships included Carmel Masonic Lodge #421; Scottish Rite 32nd degree; American Legion Post 155 in Carmel; Moose Lodge in Madison, IN; and the Shrine 500 Club. His family would like to say "Thank You" to St. Vincent Hospice Center, to which memorial contributions may be made at 8450 N. Payne Rd., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46268. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sat., June 25 at Kercheval Funeral Home, Sheridan, with visitation following until 6 p.m. Survivors include one son, D. Mathew Randall of Sheridan; two daughters, Melanie Rena Siewers of Mesa, Arizona and Sara Jo Goddard of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother, Jerry Banks of Avon; four grandchildren, Kassidy Olson, Lindsey Siewers, Cody Siewers and Skylar Jay Goddard; four sisters, Nancy Kaylor of Morristown, TN, Linda Farrand of Carmel, Teresa Nardone of Utica, MI and Mandy Stancil of Hanover, IN.

Rodney J. Banks, 49, of Sheridan, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

He was born July 13, 1955, in Indianapolis, to Samuel Jackson Banks and Maude Stewart Banks-Lundsford. He served in the U.S. Marine Cops during the Lebanon crisis and attained the rank of sergeant. He was the owner of the Red Onion in Sheridan. He worked for USAC and IRL for 15 years as part of the Tech Team. He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church in Indianapolis; was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Carmel Masonic Lodge 421; American Legion Post 155 in Carmel; Shrine 500 Club; the Madison Moose Lodge; and an Explorer Group while attending Northwest High School in Indianapolis.

Surviving are one son, D. Matthew Randall of Sheridan; two daughters, Melanie Rena Siewers of Mesa, Ariz., and Sara Jo Goddard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his mother, of Hanover; one brother, Jerry Banks of Avon; four sisters, Nancy Kaylor of Morristown, Tenn., Linda Farrand of Carmel, Teresa Nardone of Utica, Mich. and Mandy Stancil of Hanover; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan.

Friends may call after the memorial service until 6 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
