Mrs. Christensen bequeathed her body to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. A Memorial Service will be held in Edmore at a later date.
Alice Hattie Bono was born in Edmore on November 4, 1915, to Henry and Gea (Sogge) Bono. Her parents homesteaded on the prairie, farming south of Edmore.
Alice married Norman C. Christensen on June 7, 1941. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mayville State University, and taught school in Edmore for 30 years. She was the organist for more than 60 years at the United Methodist Church in Edmore, was a leader in the Methodist Youth Fellowship, and active in the United Methodist Women.
Alice loved Edmore and looked for ways to support the community. She volunteered at the Edmore Historical Museum, the Edmore Memorial Rest Home, and was a member of the Senior Citizens Center and the Edmore Community Club.
She loved to attend musical and sporting activities of her grandsons, and rarely missed a musical production or concert.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Norman, Pioneer Senior Cottages, Breckenridge; two daughters, Christina M. Christensen, Phoenix, AZ, and Karen (Roger) Kalinowski, Wahpeton; two grandsons, Matt, Fargo, ND and Ben (Gina), Omaha, NE; two great-grandsons, Tanner and Tyler, Omaha; her sister, Thelma Machen, Milwaukee, WI; her brother, Albert J. (Mary) Bono, Roan Mountain, TN; nephews, James B. Lund and George T. Lund, Lake Cormorant, MN; and her niece, Dr. Joyce Van Dyke, Menomonee Falls, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Jeannie (James) Lund.
