Clinton
Sr. Lucy Mary, SSM, 97, of the Society of St. Margaret, died June 21, 2011, at Lutheran Care Home, Clinton, NY. She was born on January 5, 1917, in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of Percy B. Turner and Florence Turner. She was educated in Philadelphia Pa, and had nine brothers and sisters. She entered the Society of St. Margaret on July 2, 1941, and was Life Professed December 8, 1944. During her Religious life, she served in many positions and in many of our mission houses. In addition to service at the Boston Convent in many capacities, Sr. Lucy Mary worked at St. Margarets, New Hartford, NY; Trinity Mission, New York City, Great River Camp, Montreal, Canada; St. Monicas Nursing Home, Boston, MA; the Newark, NJ, Mission; St. Margarets Mission, Philadelphia, PA; and St. Agnes House, Lexington, KY. She went two times with Healing Mission groups to Jamaica, W.I. In her later years, at St. Margarets in New Hartford, she realized she needed more care, so Sr. Lucy Mary chose to enter the Lutheran Care Facility. She participated in many activities, loved to crochet and make afghans, hats and blankets for Emmaus House and others. She did her crosswords with great accuracy and was always a friend to other residents and those who came to see her. Each day was always a new adventure in faith and love. The family would like to thank the staff at Martin Lutheran Home who gave her such kind and wonderful care. In addition, they would like to thank the staff and friends of St. Margarets House, New Hartford, and all of our associates who visited and cared for her. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30, at 1:30 p.m. from Our Saviour Chapel, Lutheran Care, Clinton, NY, with Rev. Sarah Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Boston, MA, July 6, 2011, at 10 a.m. Friends may consider donations to Haiti Fund, Society of St. Margaret, 17 Highland Park St., Boston, MA 02119.
