DeWITT - George Wesley Adams, life long resident of Arkansas County,left his earthly life and entered his eternal life with the Lord Jan. 17, 2009. He was born in the Point Deluce Community, March 31, 1924 to Albert Bryant Adams and Mary Vertner Trussell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Vernon, Delbert, Elmer and Homer; and by his beloved grandson, Bradley Kyle Adams.

Mr. Adams was an ordained minister, co-owner of Adams Motor Co., and retired from teaching mechanics at Rice Belt Vo-Tech. Mr. Adams enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodwork and gardening. He loved to share the vegetables he grew with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alta Bell Webster, son, Billy Wesley (JoAnn) Adams of DeWitt; daughters, Brenda (Marcus) Byers, Rhonda (Jimmy) McKenzie, Tammy (John) Brugnoli all of Leesburg, Fla.; sister, Fay Ruffin of Brownwood, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21st at Unity Baptist Church with burial at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday all under the direction of Essex Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in his honor to Unity Baptist Church.
