Roger was born August 20, 1938, in Newton to the late Irving and Florence (Lehman) Luckow. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School. On August 29, 1959, Roger married Ann J. Crandall at Salem Ebeneezer Reformed Church in Newton. She preceded him in death May 11, 2020. Roger lived in Newton his entire life. He spent his career working for the Mirro Company as a supervisor in the rolling mill until retirement. Roger grew cash crops in his spare time. He was a member of the National Guard for 25 years. Roger was an active member of TRIA and marched in Memorial Day parades as part of the color guard. He enjoyed having breakfast each month with his friends. Roger enjoyed going on casino trips and to Oneida with his wife Ann. He had a huge heart, helping his family with many projects around their homes and spending time with his grandchildren. Roger was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan. Following his retirement, he spent much time outdoors, cutting his grass, completing home improvement projects, and just sitting on his porch watching the birds at his many bird feeders. Roger also enjoyed holiday gatherings and getting together with his family for lively Sheepshead games.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey (Barb) Luckow, Whitelaw; Bradley (Ann Marie) Luckow. Manitowoc; and Gary (LuAnn) Luckow, Whitelaw; eight grandchildren, Rachel Luckow, Ricky Luckow, Alyssa (Patrick) Holly, Brandy (Colin) Campbell, Alaina Luckow, Brandon Luckow, and fiancé' Alyssa Merchant, Nathan Luckow, and Joshua Luckow; five great grandchildren, Rhenton, Myrrah, Zoe, Ava, and Caroline; three brothers-in-law, Richard (Jenny) Crandall, Arizona; Wally (Cathy) Crandall, Florida, and Jerry Crandall, Missouri; nieces, and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his wife Ann; parents, Irving and Florence, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jon and Grace Crandall; three brothers, Wayne (LaVerne) Luckow, Robert (Edith) Luckow, and Chester (Barbara) Luckow; two sisters, Delores (Lloyd) Wernecke and Marian (George) Morgan; three brothers-in-law, Charles Crandall, Jack Crandall, and Paul Crandall; and grandson Markus Luckow.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Pastor Brian De Jong officiating. Immediately following the memorial service, military rites will be accorded by AMVETS Post 99 at the funeral home. A luncheon for family and friends will then be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with entombment of Roger's cremated remains at Knollwood Mausoleum.
