James E. "Jim" Freeman, 65 of Alma passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2022 in a local hospital.

He was the Captain of the Mountainburg Police Department, earlier in his career he worked for the Crawford County Sheriff Department in the Radio Room, Dive Team, Drug Task Force, Investigation and Patrol Deputy and was the first K9 Handler in Crawford County; he was a past Constable for District 2; Crawford County Coroner's Deputy; worked for Arkoma Police Department, was Chief of Police for both Mulberry and Cedarville Police Department, and also a Deputy for Franklin County Sheriff Department. Jim worked for Bob Cole Bail Bonds for over twenty years as a bondsman. He was a member of Mulberry Open Door Church and was a veteran of the United States Marines.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Catherine (Crawmer) Freeman; two brothers Rick and Tony Freeman.

Funeral services will be 11AM, Thursday March 31, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Alma with burial to follow at New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife Liz Freeman of the home; three daughters Kimberly Freeman-Rhone and her husband (Correy) of Fort Smith, Brooklyn Barnes of Fort Smith and Kaisha Emery and her wife Ashley of Fort Smith; one son Ryan Freeman and his wife Ashley of Fort Smith; two sisters Linda Houston of Decatur, Indiana and Kathy McGeath of Indiana; one brother Rick Tucker of Hartford City, Indiana; eighteen grandchildren; two great-grandchilden.

Family will visit with relatives and friends Wednesday, March 30, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street.
Pallbearers will be Brad Ridenour, Tyler Nelson, Kirby Smith, Rick Tucker, Jerry Pittman, Chris Willet and Ron Brown.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Crawford County Sherriff Department.
