MOTHER OF THREE MINISTERS PASSES SUNDAY MORNING
Mrs. Catherine Leota Tryon Resident of Sedgwick County 40 Year
TO WICHITA IN 1913
Mrs. Catherine Leota Tryon, 65, who has been a resident of Sedgwick county for 40 years, died Sunday at 7 p. m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hubert Stice, 1634 South Lulu avenue. Mrs. Tryon was a life long worker in the Nazarene church and lived to see her three sons all become ministers of the gospel. This is said to have been Mrs. Tryon's greatest ambition.
There are three daughters in Wichita, Mrs. Arthur Meyers, Mrs. Walter Fink and Mrs. Stice. The three sons are: Rev. Ed Tryon and Rev. Jesse Tryon of Pasadena, Calif. and Rev. Harley D. Tryon of Harmon, Okla.
Mrs, Tryon's husband came to Kansas more than 40 years ago with a group of other easterners and homesteaded at Kingman. He determined not to ask his bride to endure the hardships of pioneering and went to prove up on the claim before bringing her west. After the claim was "proved up'' Mrs. Tryon joined her husband at Wichita and they bought a farm near Mt. Hope.
Ten years later they moved to Wichita where they made their home until Mr. Tryon's death seven years ago. The body is at the Flanagan & Bourman undertaking Co. parlors.
