Obituary

Gail Dwaine Davis, 82, passed peacefully on February 18, 2022, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. Gail was born October 28, 1939, in Goodland, KS to Mabel (Winfrey) and Wade Davis.

Gail grew up in Kanorado, KS, the second of 5 boys. He worked for family members on their farms throughout his teenage years. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served for 4 years before being honorably discharged. Gail married Deanna Bartholomew in October 1961. They had two children and were later divorced. After his service in the Air Force, Gail worked at the Burlington Co-op while waiting to get accepted to the Colorado State Patrol Academy. Gail was accepted and became a CO State Patrolman and worked in the Boulder area, Morgan County and finished in the greater Denver area. He served as a Colorado State Trooper for approximately 17 years. One of the highlights of his career as a CO State Trooper was his assignment to Governor Lamm as his personal security and driver. Gail then moved to Ft. Morgan and worked for JW Gibson as a safety man.

Gail married Barbara Bass in May 1983. He loved spending time at the lake with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, water skiing, tubing and just cruising in his boat. He and Barb took frequent trips to various lakes around the area, Jackson Lake, Bonnie Dam, Sterling Reservoir and Empire. After Barb passed, he hauled milk for Dairy Farmers of America. Gail also was a school bus driver for Ft. Morgan school district for a short time. He continued the driving gig and drove cars for an area car dealership during his retirement. Gail suffered a stroke in 2017 and then moved to Windsor, CO to live with his daughter and son-in-law. Gail loved spending time with his family and friends whether at the lake or getting together for holidays and celebrations. Gail was a very kind and quiet man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
