Howard William Grace
August 5, 1942 - March 26, 2022

Howard passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Tustin, CA on March 26, 2022. He was born in Prescott, AZ on August 5, 1942 to William Ernest "Bill" and Lillie Alva Kelton Grace. He was raised in a family of three older sisters and a younger brother and two younger sisters. He moved with his mother and siblings to Denver when he was 12 and then back to Prescott a few years later. While in Denver, he became acquainted with his uncle J.T. Kelton, who was a police officer and who later became the Sheriff of Routt County, CO. That may have influenced Howard's decision to begin his 25 year law enforcement career. He began as a Kingman, AZ police officer in 1963. He transferred to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office from which he retired in 1988. His patrol area was in and around Wickenburg which he considered home.

Later he moved to Colorado with the love of his life, Nancy Jo "Jody", They partnered with his son, Bill Grace, in establishing Pinnacle Homes, building homes in and around Grand Junction, CO. In 2016 he and Jody move to California to be near the other three sons. Howard suffered from many years with the effects of severe heart disease and diabetes. Despite that, he remained positive and took it ins stride.

He valued his family and friends and had an ability to maintain lasting relationships. His sense of humor was legendary. Christian faith and music brought him strength, hope and much joy.

Howard was preceded in death by both parents and two sisters: Dorcas Glidewell and Louis Cubitto Gibbs. He is survived by his loving wife Jody, his siblings: Jane Whitbey of Prescott, Claudia Sue Amer (John) of Globe, John Grace (Lenore) of Wickenburg and Steamboat Springs, CO, and Kathy Swope of Prescott and Palmer, AK, Four sons: Bill Grace (Patty) of Fruita, CO., Jason, Gary and Jeff Blower of New Port Beach, CA, Nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Throughout Howard's life he enjoyed meeting people and they enjoyed him. They enjoyed the way he dressed, talked and carried himself as a cowboy and a gentleman.

Howard's strength and loving heart will be sorely missed!

Services are planned for Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Wickenburg Funeral Home with a visitation 1 hour prior to services.

With a private family interment to follow in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
