Robert H. DuHamell, Sr.
Newark - Robert H. DuHamell, Sr., age 88, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Robert proudly served in the Naval Reserves for 18 years. He was a heavy equipment operator and belonged to Local 542 for over 50 years. Robert was a lifelong member of Parkview Assembly of God Church. He also helped to build Newark First Assembly of God. Robert was always helping others with his many "jack of all trades" talents. He enjoyed yard work and flower and tree gardening. In his spare time, he loved boating, cruising, going to the beach, and watching black and white classic TV. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, pop-pop and old pop-pop! His life will live on in the lives of his cherished family.
Robert is survived by his cherished wife of 68 years, Esther DuHamell; children: Robert DuHamell Jr. (Nancy), Gary DuHamell (Wendy), Nancy Thorp (Donald), and Patti George (Wally); 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Edith DuHamell; and siblings: Daniel, Florence, and Eleanor;
A visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2022, from 9:30-11 AM at Parkview Assembly of God, 235 Polly Drummond Hill Rd, Newark, DE 19711 followed by a service in celebration of Robert's life at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the church in Robert's memory.
