Darlene worked as a hairdresser for nearly 40 years around the Morgantown area. She managed Your Father's Mustache, Command Performance, and owned and operated her own salon, Circle H for Hair just to name a few.
She was a competitive billiard player having competed in Las Vegas and was a member of the Morgantown League. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, playing slots, and a good puzzle. She was crazy about Harry Potter, so much, that she had planned her 75-birthday extravaganza to be held at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in FL this fall.
She had a straightforward personality and was deeply devoted to her family and friends. If you asked her opinion, she would give it without any apologies. Her gifts of love, laughter and quick wit will be missed by those who knew her best.
She leaves to cherish her memory, beloved husband, Michael Dawson, her three daughters, Melanie Filandino, Shaun Robinson, and Courtney Jackson; her two brothers, Roger Myers and husband Doug Barr all of Morgantown, and Robert Myers and wife Marlyn of Prattville, AL; sister-in-law Mary Seymour of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Michael A Filandino and wife Allison, Ashley Gallegos and husband Justin, Tyler and Devin Filandino, Nicholas Jackson and Alyse Dastrup.
Darlene was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first great-granddaughter in July and will be missed dearly by her precious faithful canine companion Riley and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sylvia Myers, sons-in-law, Joseph Filandino and Alan Jackson, sister-in-law, Susan Jackson and her mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Roscoe Dawson.
Visitation will be held at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, April 11, 2022, from 5 PM until 8 PM and again on Tuesday from 11 AM until the time of services at 12 Noon with Pastor Nathaniel Hudson officiating. She will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
