Martha Lou Mabry, age 74, went to her heavenly home on Friday, August 4, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Martha was a faithful woman and parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, Texas.
Throughout high school, Martha excelled in academics and sports – and truly shined in tennis and basketball. After graduating from Celeste High School as Valedictorian, she attended East Texas State University and graduated with her master's in education. She worked as a teacher and counselor for the Garland Independent School District for over 30 years. In retirement, she reveled in spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. She could frequently be found caring for her grandson, attending his school and sport events, cheering for her favorite professional sport teams, and attending social events with her empty nesters club at church.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Andrew Mabry; her daughter, Brooke Keene and her husband, Clay; her grandson, Connor Joseph Keene; her brother, Kenneth Sumrow and his wife, Pam; her nieces and nephews, James Watson and his wife, Sheri, Christy Byerly, Clint Sumrow, Lauren Frey and her husband, Bobby; nine great nieces and great nephews, Logan Watson, Payton Watson, Preslie Watson, Weston Byerly, Jack Byerly, Justin Byerly, Grayson Sumrow, Ellie Frey, Ava Frey.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Mozelle and Ellis Sumrow; her sister, Sue Watson and her husband, Roby.
