The funeral for Jimmy Russell Casteel, 79, of Athens will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Jim Sasser and Don Osborne officiating.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Dement Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday before the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Casteel died Monday, January 7, 2008, in Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was a member of the Church of Christ, an Army veteran of the Korean War and a barber for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Casteel of Athens; one son, Mike Casteel and wife Donna of Killen; three daughters, Brenda Flannagan and husband Jerry, Deborah Jaynes, and Edwina Greer and husband James, all of Athens; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion Noe of Birmingham; two brothers, Dale Casteel of Athens and Billy Casteel of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Casteel, Jacob Gautney, Bobby Barnes, Jack Barnes, Billy Barnes and Jerry Hardaway.
