Annabelle Scherer Miller was born on July 13, 1922 in Madison, Wisconsin to George Henry Scherer and Helen Endres Scherer. Her mother, Helen, died 3 months later and Annabelle was raised by her father along with her "foster parents", a cousin and her husband. After attending Catholic schools in Madison through junior college, she entered a religious community of sisters and stayed until May of 1968. Annabelle then worked as an administrative legal secretary in Wisconsin and Minnesota until her marriage in 1975 to Charles E. Miller of Dallas, TX. They later moved from Texas to Oklahoma. "Chuck" died in 1991. Annabelle's only survivors are 3 stepsons: Chuck, Jr., William, and Richard.
Annabelle died suddenly, peacefully, and beautifully on April 8, 2022 at the St. John Paul II Gospel of Life Dwelling (GOLD). Although just 3 months from her 100th birthday, Annabelle was still alert, active, witty, and faithful. She was an involved member at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a volunteer with Frontier Hospice. For the last 5 years, Annabelle resided at Gospel of Life Dwellings in south OKC and then in Moore, bringing cheer to all with her humor and remembrances.
Services on Wednesday, April 13th: Viewing at 4pm, Rosary at 4:30pm, Funeral Mass at 5pm, Supper following Mass, all at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 4201 S. McKinley Avenue, Oklahoma City. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery during the Easter Octave. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annabelle's memory to the Gospel of Life Dwellings are encouraged at https://www.gospeloflifedisciples.org/volunteer-donate
