Mrs. Richard Mathies, 90, of Rt. 1, Maribel, died Sunday morning at a Manitowoc County nursing home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Maribel. The Rev. Armin Engel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Mathies, nee Helen Manke, was born April 18, 1880, in Germany, daughter of the late William and Pauline Holz Manke. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of three. She was married to Richard Mathies Nov. 21, 1903, at Milwaukee. Her husband preceded her in death June 4, 1965.
Survivors include two sons, Walter and Richard Jr. of Rt. 1, Maribel, seven daughters, Mrs. Hilda Weikert, Mrs. Alma Muffet, Mrs. Elsie Edwards, Miss Esther Mathies and Miss Lillian Mathies of Milwaukee, Mrs. William (Lorretta) Siebers of Appleton and Mrs. Henry (Ruth) Kouba of Rt. 1, Maribel, three sisters, Mrs. Anna Pautz, Mrs. Lilly Soucie and Mrs. Clara Grayson of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A granddaughter, seven brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Knutson Funeral Home, Denmark, after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
