Son of Jesse M Carver and Sarah Watson Lewis. Married to Martha Almira Bridgford 25 Jun 1874 in Millersburg, Mercer county, Illinois. Father of four children: Clarence Clayton Carver, Arthur William Carver, Laura May Carver, and Frank Lewis Carver. Lived in Emporia, Kansas before moving to California. He was a farmer for many years, but became a real estate agent in Los Angeles county by 1910. [Note: His grandson, Richard Lewis Carver, told me that Edward's middle name was Wakefield. That name has not been found in the family. Edward's oldest son, Clarence C Carver, wrote in a family history that his father's name was Edward Worthington Carver. The Worthington and Carver families have been associated in Pennsylvania for at least 150 years, so I will assume that Clarence Carver knew his father's middle name. All the records I have found, including Edward's death certificate, show only the middle initial W. This is my great grandfather.]
