Alan Barry Clemens, 87, passed away Monday April 11, 2022 at Park Place Senior Living in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born January 3, 1935 in Lansing, MI, the son of the late Ray and Mary Clemens.
Alan was a U.S Air Force Veteran and served from 1954-1958. He earned his Bachelor's from Michigan State University and his Master's from New York State University at Buffalo. Alan retired as an Electrical Engineer from ITT Aerospace with over 25 years of service. His memberships included, New Haven United Methodist Church, and American Legion Post 47. He earned his pilots and instructors license and enjoyed flying during his early life. He enjoyed camping with his family, woodworking, and was a Ham Radio Operator. He devoted over 20 years, mentoring youth as a leader, in Boy Scouts. In later years Alan took up roller skating, with his grandchildren every Sunday. He started ballroom dancing in his 60's and danced and competed into his 80's. Throughout Allen's life he gave of his time and talents to support youth with special needs, through developing speech assisting devices, dance and Special Olympics. His true passion was spending time with his family.
Alan is survived by his children, Larry (Brenda) Clemens, Sue Kelty, Doug (Kathy) Clemens, Robin Clemens, Ron (Beth) Clemens, step children, Loren (Aimee) Fry, Robert (Vicky) Fry, Dennis (Melody) Fry, Randall (Anita) Fry, 18 grandchildren and 12great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Marilyn Joyce Clemens 1997, and second wife of 20 years Fern E. Clemens in 2021.
Funeral service will be 1pm Tuesday April 19, 2022 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday April 18, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
