John J Cogan Jr a retired Exxon representative who lived in New Rochelle died yesterday at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center He was 61 The cause of death was not disclosed. Born on Nov 22 1929 to John J and Loretta O'Rourke Cogan in New York City He was educated in the public schools in the Bronx In 1947 he graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx He served as a sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War In 1955 he graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor's degree in accounting On June 2 1956 he married Eileen Haines in SL Frances of Rome Church in the Bronx For 40 years he worked as a field service specialist with the northeast region of Exxon Corp USA out of the company's Pelham office He retired this year Mr Cogan had lived for five years in Maryland before moving to Mount Vernon where he lived for 15 years He had been living in New Rochelle for the past 15 years He attended Holy 'Name of Jesus Church in New Rochelle He belonged to the church's usher society ' He also was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus in Pelham And he was a former member of the Davenport Club in New Rochelle. Surviving are his wife and mother two daughters Mary Beth King of Pelham and Cathy Kelly of Bronxville 'and four grandchildren Caitlin Kerri Ann and Casey King all of Pelham and Brian Kelly of Bronxville His father and a sister Loretta Slevin died earlier Arrangements are being handled by the Pelham Funeral Home of Pelham
