Rhonda Kay Acker-Thigpen, 54, died Monday, January 7, 2008, in Pascagoula, MS. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2008, at 12 noon at First Missionary Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis with Reverend Allen Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mrs. Thigpen was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis, MS. She was a graduate of Bay St. Louis Senior High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Lewis University, Lockport, IL.
Mrs. Thigpen was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Acker; one sister, Gloria Jean Acker; two brothers, Alexander Acker, Jr., and Lionel Carter Acker.
Her survivors include: her husband, Calvin Thigpen, Sr., Bay St. Louis; one son, Calvin (Felicia) Thigpen, Jr., Ridgeland, MS; her mother, Augusta Acker, Bay St. Louis, MS; two sisters, Augusta Inez Clemons, Bay St. Louis and Janet Faye (Edward) Green, Natchez, MS; two brothers, Steven Acker, New Orleans, LA and Donald Acker, Bay St. Louis; one darling grandson, Calvin "Tre" Thigpen, III; a sister-in-law, Vincentine Acker, Harvey, LA and many relatives and friends.
