Mrs. J.V. Burkhead Rites Held Monday at Armstrong
Mrs. J.V. (Florence) Burkhead, 85, Armstrong, died Jan. 20, 1973, at Fairmont Community Hospital.
Services were held at 2 p.m. today, Monday, at First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong, with Leslie Lewis officiating. Burial was made in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
She was born May 9, 1887, on a farm west of Armstrong to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Felkey. She graduated from Armstrong schools and attended Cornell College.
She was married to Jesse Verlyn Burkhead Jan. 1, 1908, at Armstrong. She worked before her marriage at the First National Bank at Armstrong. After marriage they operated a clothing store in Armstrong until retirement in 1944. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong, and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Lorna Robinson, Armstrong; one son, Jesse Burkhead, Syracuse, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother.
Funeral arrangements were made by Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Armstrong. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 22, 1973)
